Annually, Consumers Energy sponsors one member's dependent to spend a week-long, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in June. The student must be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior. The Youth Tour allows students the opportunity to visit historic monuments and museums, meet with U.S. Representatives and Senators, and meet other students from around the country on Rural Electric Youth Day.

Youth Tour Essay 2025

Complete the application, and answer the following questions in essay form. The essays should be 300 words.

1. Describe your view of major challenges facing the rural community. What solutions do you envision? What part does the cooperative play in the solution?

2. Why do you want to be Consumers Energy's delegate for the 2025 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.?

The Youth Tour takes place from June 13-21, 2025. I understand that I am expected to make a presentation at Consumers Energy's Annual Meeting which is typically held in August.

Applicants must currently be high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors whose parents or legal guardians are members of Consumers Energy in the state of Iowa. Family members of cooperative employees and directors are not eligible. The contest is based on the information contained in the material enclosed.
